God created the world to reveal who He is. Speaking through everything he created, each made to declare his glory. Inviting us to look at the world around us and worship him.

God is Creative-Revelation 4:11
God is the creator; he’s the most creative being in existence, actually. This is one of the first things we learn about him: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”
God designed the world to reveal himself! Just as a painting or a work of fiction reveals a great deal about the author, our world offers endless insights into its creator. Mankind, plants, animals, and even the earth, reflect his creativity in different ways.
Unique among all God’s creatures, because they are made in His image. Humans have a unyeilding desire to create all sorts of things. Language, literature, music, art, the list goes on. It is one of the many things that make us human. It is also a great way for us to share the truth of God’s word with others!
The earth’s flora and fauna reflect God’s creativity, too. Think of the countless plant and animal species we see on Earth! It is God alone who can bring into existence such an amazing variety of living things, each wonderfully complex and unique.
Day by day, these creatures carry out God’s command: “Be fruitful and multiply”! Quietly ackowledgin him as the God of life! The only one who can create out of nothing, with nothing, but his voice.
For the LORD merely spoke, and the heavens were created. He breathed the word, and all the stars were born.”
Psalm 33:6
“For you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.”

God is Powerful-Romans 1:20
God created the world with power; he is so powerful that he spoke and, in a moment, created all things. The stars of heaven, the birds of the air, the beasts of the ground, and all that swims in the seas. At his word, the earth sprouted with plants and living creatures. Last of all, He formed man from the dust and breathed His spirit into mankind.
“Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure.”
Psalm 147:5
No wonder the God of Glory thunders when he speaks. Let us give God the glory due his name, for he is powerful, and his deeds are mighty.
“For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been perceived ever since the creation of the world.”

God is Wise-Proverbs 3:19
God created the world in wisdom. Stars without number, every plant, creature, and atom on earth. He set each one in place, and each exists according to his design.
Even today, with all our scientific methodologies and technologies, we’re often left scratching our heads. Still searching for answers about many of the things God created.
God knows and understands everything about everything. He is the wisest being to exist.
“Oh, the depths of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! Let us ponder the wisdom of God displayed in all that he made and give him praise.
“The Lord by wisdom founded the earth; by understanding he established the heavens.”

God is Majestic-Psalm 8:1
The Lord is majestic. According to Merriam-Webster, majestic means “sovereign power, authority, and dignity. The earth overflows with echoes of God’s majesty, inviting us to stop, look, and acknowledge him.
There are too many examples to count, but among the most striking are mountains! One of the most majestic sights on earth, towering far above our heads. These places where heaven and earth meet fascinated mankind for centuries, and continue to do so today.
It is no wonder so many ancient cultures viewed mountains as places to encounter the divine.
Indeed, many of the Bible’s most significant moments took place on the mountaintop. God met humanity there often, but today, and throughout time, he calls out from mighty mountain peaks. Inviting each of us to come and worship the one who created even them.
“Oh Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!”
Psalm 8:1

God is Awesome-Deuteronomy 10:17
Awesome is a great, old word meaning “inspiring awe,” “terrific or extraordinary.”
Today, the word lacks its original power. God is truly awesome in the traditional meaning of the word.
If ever we were in awe of an incredible view, or a miraculous moment in life, how much more should we be in awe of the one who created it?
Do you take time to acknowledge the one who created them? To consider how much more awesome he is than all creation?
May we stand in awe of him who created all things.
“For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome,”

God is Glorious-Psalm 19:1
God’s glory is on display every day. The sun, ninety-three million miles away, provides light, heat, and life. By night, the stars shine from baffling distances, millions and millions of them, bigger than we can imagine.
So glorious they remind us, without a sound, without a word, how glorious our God is. The heavens above proclaim him as the creator worthy of all glory, forever and ever.
“The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.”

God is Beautiful-Psalm 27:4
Something beautiful “gives pleasure to the senses and mind;” it is something excellent. What a fitting description of the Lord!
He fashioned the world to be beautiful and good. Though corrupted by our sin, God still allows his beauty to shine through.
All beauty in our world reflects our creator because it comes from him.
David declared, “At your right hand are pleasures forevermore!” We can be sure that wherever the Lord is, we will find beauty.
“The sweetest thing in all my life has been the longing — to reach the Mountain, to find the place where all the beauty came from — my country, the place where I ought to have been born. Do you think it all meant nothing, all the longing? The longing for home? For indeed it now feels not like going, but like going back.”

God is Good-James 1:17
“Good and upright is the Lord!” The Lord, the great I Am, is good.
Or to put it another way: God is goodness. There is no definition of good apart from him. He is the source of anything and everything good.
When we enjoy the good things that He created, let’s remind ourselves that the Lord abounds in goodness and truth. When something abounds, it means there’s a lot of it!
Certainly, the Lord is abundantly good!
“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.”
James 1:17

God Is Almighty-Revelation 1:8
God is almighty. He created the world by his power, and he rules the world in sovereignty. Almighty means “having absolute power overall.” Another fitting description of the one who created and sustains all things.
Once, God issued a lengthy rebuke to Job, giving us an illustration of his absolute sovereignty over the earth and all its hosts.
When we consider what kind of person it would take to rule this vast world, let us worship the almighty king who rules the world with power.
““I am the Alpha and Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.””

God Is Merciful-Psalm 145:9
His mercies are new every morning! And every page of scripture testifies to it. If we look around, we will see God’s mercy in creation, too. God sustains each creature; they exist by his will. He creates each one, renews the ground on which they walk, and opens his hand to give them food.
Without his merciful sustaining power, no creature could live.
As God’s greatest creation, God poured out his abundant mercy on mankind because of his son, Jesus.
May we praise God for the mercy he gives each day and remember most of all, the mercy Jesus bestowed on the cross.
“The Lord is good to all, and his mercy is over all that he has made.”

God is Gracious-Titus 2:11
What’s more, God gives us his grace. The creator became the created when he became the man Jesus. Each day God gives us grace, his undeserved favor. Providing us with a world full of his wonders, his love, and mercy.
When we consider the one who made this marvelous world. We must stand in awe of him who would come down and humble himself to save sinners such as you and me.
As we reflect on God’s grace revealed in creation, ponder how God first revealed his grace through Jesus Christ at Christmas time in my article “On Whom His Favor Rests – God’s Gift of Favor.”

God Is The Great I AM-Exodus 3:14
God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And he said, “Say this to the people of Israel: ‘I AM has sent me to you.’”

The more you meditate on the name “I AM”, the more incredible it becomes.
God is the only one who can truly say, I AM.
I AM creative. I AM power. I AM wisdom. I AM majesty. I AM awesome. I AM glorious. I AM beauty. I AM good. I AM almighty. I AM mercy. I AM grace. I AM who I AM.

Let Us Celebrate Who God Is
God is gracious enough to reveal himself to all people, through his creation, but most importantly, through his Son, and the inspired word, the Bible.
When I think of all these things, I’m reminded of the lovely Christmas carol “I Wonder as I Wander.” By John Jacob Niles. (Which I listened to on repeat as I wrote this post), covered by the talented artist Simon Khorolskiy. Enjoy it here.
